Lead-Based
Paint
Lead was used in paint prior to 1978 as pigment or additive to help
with the durability. Lead-Based Paint is most often seen on high impact
surfaces such as door cases, window troughs, floors, and exterior surfaces
of buildings and homes. Lead-Based Paint contamination and exposure
affects small children most and can cause serious health concerns.
Inspections
Cromwell
Environmental conducts hundreds of Lead-Based Paint (also called LBP
or Lead Paint) Inspections and Risk Assessments every month in multiple
states. Our licensed and insured employees are experienced in using
the latest X-Ray Florescence (XRF) devices to quickly identify lead
paint hazards in buildings, documenting the condition and potential
health hazards associated with lead-based paint contamination and providing
our clients with comprehensive reports.Cromwell Environmental is an
expert at handling major HUD-based lead inspection contracts, but we
are also equally comfortable with performing single samplings for homeowners
(such as are often done prior to remodeling). Offering quick turn-around
time and interaction with web-based vendor portal software such as HomeTracker,
REO Tracker, and HomesViewer, among others.
Clearance
Testing
It
is estimated that nearly 25% of exposure is due to improper techniques
during clean-up efforts. After a lead-based paint abatement or stabilization,
or as part of a Section (8) housing inspection, lead levels are analyzed
from dust in and around the work area. This lead-based paint clearance
testing is performed by Cromwell Environmental to determine if state
applicable lead clearance standards have been reached or if additional
work is necessary.
Project
Monitoring
Cromwell
Environmental offers lead abatement project supervision certified Lead-Based
Paint Risk Assessors and Industrial Hygienists who monitor the lead
abatement contractor’s activities to ensure compliance with OSHA
regulations. Collection of clearance and TCLP samples are taken periodically
as well as air samples to ensure that engineering controls and health
and safety precautions are met.
